To The Daily Sun,
As a Democratic voter in Alton, I will be choosing from among a large group of wonderful candidates for CD-1 (the seat currently held by Rep. Chris Pappas) on Sept. 8. Many I know and like personally; others I have become familiar with during the many forums, social media, and online interviews.
My bottom line? I plan to vote for Carleigh Beriont, as the candidate who best matches my vision for New Hampshire and for the nation. She is pro working families, pro Medicare for All, pro affordable housing and childcare. She is a mom and a teacher, and is not taking any corporate PAC money, AIPAC money, or dark money in her campaign.
In addition, and perhaps most importantly, Beriont has been running a totally grassroots campaign, from the ground up. Many have noted how much her campaign style has in common with the famous (and successful) campaign of Carol Shea-Porter for the same seat many years ago. No big money, just a big vision that includes all of us. One commentator referred to her “Happy Warrior” style, never attacking others but always presenting her positive message in a feisty way.
To all Democratic voters in CD-1, and all undeclared voters who plan to take a Democratic ballot on Sept. 8, I urge them to join me in supporting Carleigh Beriont.
Please note that this letter is my own personal opinion, and not that of the Alton Democratic Committee that I chair.
