To The Daily Sun,

I was disappointed to see our mayor's reaction to the appointment of Julia Nye to the Ward 5 city council position.

Instead of congratulating her and telling us how much he looked forward to welcoming her to the council and working together with her, he instead whines that he has "grave concerns" about her appointment. This is not a good first step in welcoming a new person to the city council. We want city councilors and mayor to consider themselves teammates who problem solve together as much as possible. My hope is that at the next city council meeting the mayor will thank Councilor Nye for becoming involved in civic affairs and welcome her accordingly.
