To The Daily Sun,

I am writing to endorse the candidacy of Steve Hodges for Belknap County Commissioner representing Alton, Barnstead, Gilford and Laconia’s Ward 2. Our careers with Belknap County coincided for 25 of his 28-year tenure with the sheriff’s department. As a full-time employee of the Department of Corrections and a part-time deputy sheriff, I gained a unique perspective of Steve’s work ethic from his start as a deputy through seven elected terms as high sheriff.

Steve possess two qualities anyone should value in a political candidate: he is not about a single issue, but is more concerned about the county as a whole and its effect on the residents. Secondly, his long experience has taught him that there are two sides to every issue. He asks pointed questions and makes his decisions based on the knowledge he gains from those questions. I believe he will be an active and concerned public servant.

The General Election in November is always important, but the primaries this year are especially important in getting your candidate on the November ballot, and in some cases, the primary ballot will determine some races as there may not be candidates from both parties on the ballot. Please join me in voting Tuesday, Sept. 13.
