To The Daily Sun,

This year's mayoral election is not merely about choosing a new mayor; it's about choosing the kind of future we desire for our city. Do we continue down the same path, accepting things as they are and hoping they get better on their own? Or do we step forward together and take the kind of actual change that puts our community first?

I'm running for mayor because I believe that Laconia is ready for that kind of change. I've seen firsthand, as state representative, the impact responsive, transparent leadership can have. I've worked across party lines to get things accomplished, listened to constituents from every corner of our city, and fought for policies that reflect our shared values. Now, I want to take that same level of commitment to local government where it's most needed.

Too many times, residents are disconnected from the decisions about their own city. They wonder why certain priorities are not touched on, why things get lost in communications, and why their voices somehow don't count. That is unacceptable. Our city government should be open, inclusive, and responsive to the people it represents.

I will be an open leadership mayor at all levels. I will make sure residents know what is going on, why it is going on, and how they can be engaged. I will foster a culture of respect and responsiveness where feedback is welcomed, not ignored, and where leadership acts for the needs and values of the entire community.

This is a turning point election. We can continue the same old path, or we can elect a future that's built on trust, openness, and results. I'm ready to lead that future and I'm asking for readers' vote.

Let's make Laconia better. Together.

Rep. Mike Bordes
