To The Daily Sun,

Voters in Gilford, Gilmanton and Ward 2 in Laconia could not be prouder of our Republican State Rep. David Nagel. Dr. Nagel is a tireless and true champion for the well-being of all of his constituents — and he gets stuff done.

Mr. Norm Silber left out a few details in his recent letter attempting to trash Dr. Nagel. No shock there.

As a first-term representative, David Nagel sponsored or co-sponsored 16 pieces of legislation. Five of those were signed by Gov. Chris Sununu, including one which creates a legislative committee to encourage effective non-drug alternatives for chronic pain patients, to reduce the chance of addiction to opioids.

Another bill Nagel co-sponsored helps to speed up the “pre-approval” process for patients when dealing with their medical insurance providers. As a medical doctor, he has fast become the learned voice that many of his colleagues consult with due to his extensive expertise. Juggling his patients and the legislature, Rep. Nagel missed only three House sessions during his time in the Statehouse.

Back in his district, he is tireless in his efforts to host town halls and round tables to gain knowledge on bills and their effect on all of his constituents, not just Republicans. All elected representatives should communicate like that.

We as voters want to support representatives who do their homework and understand the bills that they are working and voting on. What we don't want is our representatives wasting time on frivolous bills that push their own anti-government, extremist agendas, such as Mr. Silber’s.

Given the choice, Belknap voters should reelect an exemplary Republican state representative like Dr. David Nagel, and more like him. NH will be a better — and healthier — place.
