The tragic passing of Charlie St. Clair has shrunk the soul of the city, which he enlivened, enriched and enlarged with his magnanimous spirit, affable character and boundless energy. Charlie will forever be remembered for breathing fresh life into the annual motorcycle rally ― now into its second centennial as the oldest rally in the country ― which has drawn riders from across the country and around the world to lend Laconia a unique identity and venerable tradition. At the same time Charlie played an active role as a citizen, serving on the planning board, representing the city in the Legislature and investing in the downtown renaissance. Charlie's passion for the open road was matched only by his love for the city for which he will forever be remembered and revered.
