To The Daily Sun,
As a state representative and the mayor of Laconia, my highest priority will always be protecting our families and keeping our neighborhoods safe. That is why I am deeply honored to have earned the official backing of our frontline first responders, including endorsements from both the New Hampshire Police Association and the Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire in my campaign for reelection to represent Belknap District 5.
These organizations represent the dedicated, rank and file law enforcement officers and firefighters who put their lives on the line every single day across our state. Having their joint support validates the tangible work we have done together in Concord. Ever since taking office, I have fought hard alongside our first responder community to correct the unfair changes made to state pensions over a decade ago. Delivering the Group II retirement fix was a crucial legislative victory to restore multipliers, and accurately protect the benefits of the men and women who keep us safe.
True public safety requires a leader who will stand firmly with first responders not just when it is politically convenient, but when it matters most. Whether it is fighting to secure proper emergency equipment, supporting vital first responder mental health initiatives, or ensuring our communities have the resources to combat the opioid crisis, my commitment to those who answer the call has never wavered.
We need to keep an effective voice working for Laconia who values transparency, fiscal responsibility, and public safety over backroom politics. I ask for your vote in the general election on Nov. 3 so we can continue our momentum and build a safer, stronger community together.
Mayor Mike Bordes
