Mark Weinreb: Trump does not represent the Constitution's American ideals

To The Daily Sun,

I am frustrated by the opinions in these editorial pages that express that Donald Trump and his supporters represent “American ideals.” I would counter that his statements and actions are a direct opposite to that idea.

Firstly, Trump disrespects many of the principles outlined in our Constitution. These include running for only two presidential elections, and the principle of due process for every person on American soil which are currently being taken away by his ICE squads. In addition, he opposes the recognition of “birthright” citizenship.

With the assistance of the Trump appointed Supreme Court, Trump is in the process of overturning many of these principles. He also opposes principles such as practicing law with a focus on justice, separation of powers as well as upholding First Amendment rights to free speech and expression. These principles are the foundations of a healthy democratic system.

Clearly Trump is “transparent” in his dislike for these principles.

If it weren’t for Congressional MAGA representatives which obey to his whims and desires, he would have been impeached and disgraced from office a long time ago.
