To The Daily Sun,
As someone who frequently visits Laconia and has watched its evolution over the years, I’ve been struck by how much the city has declined. What was once a vibrant lakeside community now feels neglected and adrift.
The evidence is everywhere: dirty streets, vacant storefronts, and a growing homelessness issue that the local leadership either appears unwilling or unable to address. It's pathetic to watch such a promising place fall apart with the same faces on the ballot year after year.
Let's face facts: electing the same individuals every time won't fix what's wrong. To the contrary, it guarantees more of the same. Laconia needs leaders who will break from the status quo, who will put cleaning up Laconia front and center, not political self-interest.
These mayoral and city council elections present a ultimatum. Voters can choose new leadership and hold individuals accountable. I urge them to do so. I want to be able to continue visiting Laconia.
