The Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation annual Pumpkin Figure Contest is underway, and displays are up around the area by businesses, nonprofit organizations, families and schools. Judges were out Friday observing the entries, including this journalist hard at work in the office of The Laconia Daily Sun, who may look somewhat familiar. Judging will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 18, but most figures are expected to remain on view through the Laconia Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25.
