To The Daily Sun,

An editorial by attorney Michael S. Lewis dated April 10 addressed conflict of interest potential with the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office involvement in the case of David Meehan.

Testimony of former state employees indicates that this conflict of interest and the alleged abuse are deeply rooted in the rarely publicized operations of the NH personnel appeals board. However, exactly how the PAB process enabled alleged criminal Brad Asbury to be fired in 1994 and then rehired and assigned to the Sununu Center in 1995 remains a mystery.

The Meehan jurors would have benefitted from an explanation of laws governing personnel records similar to the one former PAB Chair Patrick Wood offered while accusing The Daily Sun of yellow journalism for its 2023 reporting on employees at Laconia High School.

Such legal explanation would similarly have benefitted Peggy Labrecque and Paul Lloyd in their testimony before the NH State Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee on Jan. 14, 2022. Labrecque and Lloyd made detailed reference to the 2006-07 termination of a former veterans home employee as a reason why they opposed naming a unit of the home after Barry E. Conway.

Despite well documented dishonorable behavior, Barry E. Conway is scheduled to be buried at the NH State Veterans Cemetery with military honors Thursday, May 9.

Former NH attorney general and U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte wants to be the next governor.

Maggie Hassan, who vetoed House Bill 591 relative to the health and safety of public employees when she was governor, is now a U.S. senator.

The jury awarded a record setting $38 million in damages to David Meehan.

Is it really any wonder whose ethics are to blame for the atrocities David Meehan endured?
