To The Daily Sun,
Republican legislators have done nothing to lower the cost of living. Instead, they gave more tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and out-of-state corporations, at our expense.
Controlled by Free Staters and their allies, the Republican majority in Concord has systematically gutted critical services. They downshifted a portion of the state’s financial responsibility to our local towns and cities, forcing property taxes and rents to rise.
Republican lawmakers ignored the priorities of Granite Staters for affordable housing, healthcare, childcare, education and energy.
Recent cuts to education aid, infrastructure funding, housing, Medicaid and health and social programs like child and family support and food assistance increase costs for all of us.
Our Republican-controlled legislature dramatically reduced our state and local government’s ability to serve our communities. They reduced or eliminated several programs and revenue streams that our towns and cities rely on.
Our state’s education funding is already among the lowest in the U.S. Still, they continue to divert more state funds from public schools to higher-income families sending their children to private religious schools.
Over the last decade, our state legislature cut business taxes five times, which “have likely resulted in between $795 million and $1.17 billion less in state revenue.”
The Republican majority in our U.S. Congress abdicated their Constitutional powers, leaving us with a $40 trillion national debt. Donald Trump’s reckless tariffs and Iran war are increasing costs across the board. They are responsible for the misuse of taxpayer dollars, tax giveaways for tech giants and data centers and the unchecked power of artificial intelligence.
By voting for Democrats up and down the ballot in November, we can turn things around. In New Hampshire, Democrat candidates will deliver practical policy solutions that reflect the values and priorities of Granite Staters for lower living costs and a fairer economy for all.
