To The Daily Sun,
I am writing in support of the amazing teachers of the Winnisquam School District. I am a parent who serves on the Sanbornton Central School Parent Teacher Organization. I have two children who attend the elementary school, and I was surprised to learn that the teachers in our district’s current pay scale is the lowest in the region.
I recognize the vital work of our dedicated teachers across the Winnisquam School District and support a pay scale competitive with regional school districts, to attract and retain exceptional teaching staff for my children and for all the students in the district. I believe they should receive fair and comparable benefits to go along with the competitive pay scale.
I would hate to see the loss of experienced educators to higher paying positions in neighboring districts, or for there to be gaps in staffing in the Winnisquam School District for the same reason.
I’ve seen how dedicated my children’s teachers at Sanbornton Central School are, and the impact they’ve had on my children. Please consider allowing our teachers to take care of their families, like they take care of the families of the Winnisquam School District.
