LACONIA — A 16-year-old driver flipped a car carrying two other minor passengers just after midnight on Sunday, and was subsequently charged for transporting alcoholic beverages and unlawful possession of alcohol.

Police Chief Matt Canfield said the officers responded to a report of an accident at 321 White Oaks Road, and a rollover accident involving a Pontiac driving north.

Fire Chief Tim Joubert said the vehicle rolled and hit a tree, and emergency personnel responded to the scene at 12:17 a.m. on Oct. 11.

The driver was the only one charged after the crash, and no other vehicles were involved. The accident is being investigated by Laconia Police. Canfield said no one was charged for driving under the influence, but other factors could have led to the crash.

“We are investigating whether speed was a factor,” Canfield said.

The occupants were evaluated by the Laconia Fire Department. There were no significant injuries, and nobody was taken to the hospital.
