LACONIA — Betty (Rollins) Gonyer, a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Oct. 12, 2026 at the age of 93.

Born in Laconia, on Valentine’s Day, she was the cherished daughter of the late Nerada (Burke) and Arnold G. Rollins Sr. It was only fitting that she was born on the holiday of love, as she spent her entire life spreading warmth, joy, and unconditional love to everyone she met.

Betty was a funny, vibrant, and incredibly selfless woman who always put the needs of everyone else before her own. She possessed an unmatched generosity and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She dedicated her services to her community, volunteering heavily with the St. Vincent de Paul in Laconia for 23 years and cooking for many years at St. Joseph's Christmas Bazaar. She also enjoyed making people laugh and entertaining a crowd. Most memorably through her participation in plays at the Colonial Theatre, where she drew very large audiences. She had a boisterous energy and contagious humor that spread wherever she was.

Her absolute pride and joy was her family. She raised five wonderful children with George Gonyer Sr., and she poured all her love, energy, and care into supporting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Some of her family's greatest memories were made during the beautiful summers spent together at the family camp on Lake Winnisquam. Later in life, she found deep companionship and shared many happy years with her long-time partner, the late Warner Young.

She is survived by her children: Cindy Marcotte and her husband Bob of Laconia, Karen Labrecque of Laconia, Kathy Gonyer of Lochmere, and George "Joe" Gonyer Jr. and his wife Wendy of Lochmere. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren and their families: Corey Marcotte, Casey Marcotte, Tyson Dennis, Sondra (Labrecque) Champagne, Lindsy (Gonyer) Bolduc, Eric Gonyer, and Jessica Gonyer, as well as many beloved great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Arnold G. Rollins Jr., George Gonyer Sr., her partner Warner Young, daughter Kim Dennis, granddaughter, Tasha Dennis, and grandson James Gonyer.

In accordance with Betty's wishes, there will be no traditional funeral services.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
