Kim Fallon: Maura Sullivan is the most impressive candidate on ballot

I have been to a few events for New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district race. Maura Sullivan is the most impressive candidate.

She joined the Marines and served in Fallujah, Iraq. She was assistant secretary of the VA under President Barack Obama, where she worked to improve healthcare for millions of veterans.

Maura put herself through college with an ROTC scholarship and by working three jobs, so she knows how expensive an education can be. She is against investors making exorbitant profits from high interest rates on student loans. This is one reason she supports increasing Pell Grants so students can cover more of their education without going into debt, along with a dramatic increase in optional public service programs.

Maura has a comprehensive plan to get corruption out of Washington, D.C., by banning corporate PACs, overturning Citizens United, and ending congressional stock trading. And she doesn’t take any corporate PAC money herself.

Maura not only has plans to bring down the costs of healthcare, childcare, housing and education, but she has the background and record to make me think she’ll actually be able to do it.

Those are some of the reasons why I am voting for her in the Sept. 8 Democratic primary. I hope readers will join me.
