KD Doyle: Claims in letter to The Daily Sun were not based on facts

To The Daily Sun,

Alison James must have been exhausted after her frantic effort to put her grievances against Democrats in her letter last week, certainly too exhausted to worry about facts.

She states Democrats (plural) have pledged allegiance to Guatemala. One Democrat, Delia Ramirez, showed support for her Guatemalan roots in a speech at a Pan-American conference, stating she was a proud Guatemalan before she was an American. As is often the case, the GOP has spoken against her statement as if made by every Democratic member of Congress, which it wasn’t. Alison continued to attribute a single statement to every Democrat.

We do see the streets of D.C. Many who see them with their own eyes rather than through the president’s slanted description, see a very different place than he/she describes. Last Friday I met three young men from D.C. who described the National Guard being there as a "joke," saying they were primarily doing the work that Parks employees did before they were let go, like spreading mulch. 

Crime being underreported since 2019 is Alison's answer to why crime statistics are lower. Yet all factual evidence shows that, in fact, crime is down. It’s hypocritical that anyone who claims to be concerned about crime would support someone who has been found guilty of sexual assault, defamation twice, 34 felonies, and has pardoned countless convicted people.

Still believing that only one person lost their life due to the Jan. 6 Insurrection is disrespectful to the others who did as well. Ashli Babbitt was shot by Capitol Police after repeated calls for her to stop breaking through the glass. The officer who shot her was found not to be liable due to self-defense; she was the aggressor. 

Three hundred words isn’t sufficient to address her other claims, but facts could if space permitted.
