To The Daily Sun,

The Republican Party boasts smart strategists and savvy planners. But they seem not to think very highly of their voters.

It looks to me like they think voters will assume the Sununu name on the ballot in the U.S. senate race must be our former governor. But Chris Sununu did not change his mind about running in this race.

Instead, it is his brother, John Sununu, who is entering this race. And their last name is all they have in common.

When John Sununu was a U.S. senator previously, from 2003 to 2009, he introduced a total of nine bills, four of which were to rename post offices. Later, the Boston Globe banned him from submitting letters to the editor due to the conflicts of interest with clients and employers he had failed to disclose.

The Republican Party hopes voters won't do any candidate research and just react favorably to the Sununu name. Nice try.

Republican voters want an honest candidate who will work for the issues — cost of living, affordable health care, safe roads, affordable housing — that impact their daily lives. In this primary, that candidate is not John Sununu.
