John Lewis: What we saw was the SNL version of a military parade

So Donald Trump's parade went off with no real semblance to North Korea, Russia, Anwar Sadat or even Tiananmen Square. Very few soldiers were armed, unlike the Commie marchers, perhaps due to reluctantly embarrassed U.S. troops.

There were several oddities, like the soldier marching with a drone on his head. Shades of a Saturday Night Live skit of old, but a drone head instead of a cone head. There were more sycophants in the review stand than there were people in the sparse crowds. The Dear Leader nodded off, so the whole event was an insult to the American taxpayer, in excess of $45 million. Of course Trump's spokesperson, Steven Cheung, said there was a great crowd of 250,000 spectators, a reminder of Sean Spicer's assertion in 2017's inauguration.

The irony is Cheung would not have been allowed to march in the parade, according to Trump's policy of "No fatties" and "No wounded soldiers." Adolf Hitler would have no impure, weak soldiers in his Aryan race, so Trump would not have them either.

Of course, the 5 million or so demonstrators in all 50 states put a severe damper on Trump's birthday parade, and the fact that many MAGA folk are now seeing that Trump sees the presidency as a money-making machine, gives a hopeful sign for America to get well.
