To The Daily Sun,

A June 23 letter raises, once again, the question of whether The Sun intends to follow its well-meaning editorial policy announced just six months ago.

The writer (1) made blatantly false claims instead of “honest argument” to (2) focus on a national matter with the apparent goal of (3) stoking “outrage” rather than “debate lead[ing] to ideas” and (4) “do[ing] more to divide than inform.” Three strikes is an out, isn’t it?

Billionaires and extremists in Concord and Washington have a strategy: Keep ordinary Americans at each other's throats with calculated lies that attack our differences. This isn’t a conspiracy theory; they’ve been quite open about it. Their goal through corporate media, algorithms, and AI chatbots is to keep us constantly enraged with disinformation.

They want us focused on our differences rather than our common problems and common-sense solutions. If we talked about the facts and the issues that harm us the most, we might work together to stop those billionaires and extremists from destroying our public schools, our healthcare, and our ability to live in freedom.

Let’s keep the propaganda out of The Sun and leave it on Facebook.

And while we’re at it, let’s also leave Facebook and go out to talk with our neighbors in the real world.
