To The Daily Sun,
How long will the corner of Pleasant and Main streets be without a facade?
After allowing the building’s brick siding to crumble over the years, the owners finally removed it last fall. Yet many months later, there is still no replacement, leaving a prominent downtown building covered in Tyvek.
The unsightliness of the old Sundial Shop takes away from the years of work and many dollars spent by the city, downtown business owners, and volunteers to beautify and revitalize Main Street and the surrounding area. It’s an eyesore and not fair to the great businesses that operate in and around the building.
Downtown property owners should be expected to show the same level of investment in the buildings they own as the merchants who fill them.
Laconia deserves better.
