To The Daily Sun:Â
Â
In light of the challenges facing our society today, it’s never been more prescient to support public schools and the educators who bring them to life. Despite readers' feelings about the current manner in which education is funded in New Hampshire, we must all acknowledge the importance of investing in local education for the health, growth, and vibrancy of our communities. Schools not only serve as places of education, development, and socialization for our kids; they also serve as local centers of community and culture, gathering places for important events, and as locations where all local people are welcomed in times of great challenge.
It is with this in mind that the Gilmanton Education Association encourages voters to participate in their town’s election this year ― as citizens, it’s a responsibility we must all be willing to embrace ― no matter where individuals stand on the issues, show up and vote.
Â
We encourage Gilmanton residents to consider casting votes in support of the local school district’s budget and in support of proposed teacher contracts that will appear as warrant articles on the community’s ballot. Public schools and educators welcome every kid, from every background, with open arms, followed by layers of love, support, and guidance. The conditions for public schools and educators are the conditions in which the kids of your community learn. Please consider supporting these reasonable investments in their future, and that of the community, by supporting them at the ballot box.
In Gilmanton, the vote will take place on March 10 at the Gilmanton Academy. It’s our hope that the people of our community, like those all across the Granite State, will exercise their voting rights by uniting in support for public schools and the highly qualified and dedicated educators who bring them to life.
