Elites want us common folk to stop consuming so much energy

Dick de Seve and James Veverka have claimed that my denying the "science of climate disruption does not change the fact that it is real, it is here, and it is rapidly increasing" Climate change is of course real and it is, of course, here. For now and for all eternity it is real and is here. But, then they claim it is "rapidly increasing." Good to know that climate disruption is rapidly increasing, whatever that means. More nonsensical, semantic silliness from the "settled science" crowd.

Mr. Seve claims that the predictions have "grossly underestimated the rapidity of climate disruption and the warming of the climate." Citations please, because the opposite has been true about global warming predictions. Why else would Al Gore have bought a mansion on the Pacific coast? Why would the Obamas be considering the purchase of a $17 million estate on Martha's Vineyard? Why else would "the sky is warming and falling crowd" continue to use private jets, stretch limos and gas guzzling SUV's? Somehow, incredibly, James assures us that all of the names I cited who are skeptical of the "manmade global warming" crowd are pseudo-scientists who are prostituting themselves to serve their corporate masters. The names I cited are a very diverse group of experts, but seemingly within mere hours, Mr. Veverka was able to put them all into a basket of science deplorables.

Mr. Seve assures us that the glaciers on Greenland, Iceland and the Artic and the equator, "have been melting at rates far faster than the models have predicted.".Well, I'll be hornswoggled. Oh wait, this just in. According to researchers at the University of Iceland, each of the country's glaciers will expand this year for the first time in the past 25 years. Why, because it has been colder the last few years. Also, the previously fastest flowing, fastest thinning glacier on Greenland's west coast has reversed course as well, as they reported back in April. An Electroverse article reported that Greenland and Iceland have gained about 45 percent more ice mass than normal over the past three years. This at a time when global carbon dioxide levels have risen. Shiver me timbers and blow me down, bring Lord Moncton and Lord Acton back into town. It is possible that the Earth is descending into a cooling frown and yet the power and corruption of the Green Movement might just bring us down. .

One plausible reason for this reversal is cited by Professor Valentina Zharkova from Northumbria University in the U.K. Apparently, the sun has exited a "modern maximum, which is a roughly 30 year period of high solar activity which is now on the slide back down to a prolonged period of cooling." We had better hope that the professor is wrong about his prediction that we may be entering a new "Super Grand Solar Minimum" which could usher in decades of cold global temperatures similar to the "little ice age" that took place between 1300-1850. Her past models have run at a 93 percent accuracy rate. Now that is just plain chilling if you ask me. Look, the point is no one knows for sure what is going to happen with our climate in the next 10, 20 or 30 years. It is the power of the sun, volcanoes and the El Nino and La Nina ocean currents that will be the main causes of whatever change occurs.

The only real denial going on Mr. Seve and Mr. Veverka, is that those who think manmade global warming is settled and so we must make drastic changes now, are in denial of science and reality, and that could be the cause of any real damage to the planet. Actually, it already has in France. Dozens have died this summer due to the heat wave and the lack of air conditioning. Desperate Frenchman diving into the nearest body of water has resulted in a 30 percent rise in drownings. The French government has come to the rescue however. People have been advised to take cold showers and stick their feet into buckets of cold water. Remember the heat wave in 2003. when the heat killed nearly 7,000 people in Germany? It seems the environmentalist hatred of air conditioners is killing people, especially the elderly.

But the environmentalists have decreed that it is necessary that some will die from heat in order to save the planet from heating up, because manmade global warming is "settled science." Folks like Dick and James demand that all deniers stop the debate and come to the plate. Otherwise, the progressive-leftist, central planners will send us through the prison gate. I wish that was purely said in jest, but the "settled science" gang are so Henny Penny crazy with fear that they probably will soon demand jail time for we "climate disruption deniers." Yes indeed, it is getting much more difficult to parody the progressive left.

Hope springs eternal for energy independence however. The United States now has more natural gas and crude oil reserves than any other country. No more gas line worries like we had to suffer through in the 1970s. The Energy Information Administration has reported that fossil fuels will continue to supply 80 percent of the world's energy demands at least through 2040. China and India will account for half of the world's increase in energy consumption though 2040. And as I wrote in a previous letter, Patrick J. Michaels reported that China and India will get a pass on reducing CO2 emissions until at least 2030. So, due to the massively increasing and uncontrolled fossil fuel usage by developing nations, any drastic reductions in our fossil fuel usage would not have any real impact on the so-called climate disruption calamity that James and Dick are all in a dither over. They apparently do not realize that they are being duped by the progressive-socialist elites in our world who will not change their behavior in any way while demanding that we, the common hoi polloi, give up our air conditioners and sell our cows to curtail bovine flatulence. Get a grip guys, please? The cut of your jib is beginning to smell really bad. You are sailing in the wrong direction.
