To The Daily Sun,
I read the recent Sun article “Business leaders concerned for future amid changing tariff policies” and have a few comments. First, the general negative slant fits the overall theme presented across the board these days in the paper: Everything that the Trump administration, the Republican majority in Concord, and the GOP-dominated county delegation does is somehow bad for everyone in our area. It’s as if the whole world around us is going to collapse because of their actions and policies. Of course, since it is apparent that the scribes of The Sun rarely reach beyond the Democrat Party-fed talking points released daily by their mouthpieces in the old media such as the New York Times and New Hampshire’s WMUR, it comes as no surprise. The piece on tariffs is especially representative of this observation with its completely one-sided take on a very complex topic. Talking with an auto dealership owner, a contractor, a former Biden campaign advisor, and the hyper-partisan Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas cannot possibly cause readers to conclude that this “concern” is widespread and affecting everyone in The Sun’s distribution area. Has anyone from the paper’s staff reached out to any manufacturers in the Lakes Region? This area abounds with such entities large and small. In the metal fabrication industry, of which I am well-versed, the current environment is very positive and looks to grow moving forward. The notion of “re-shoring” (bringing manufacturing back to U.S. soil) is very real and one finds evidence all around when talking with actual manufacturing business leaders. Should an inquisitive reporter from The Sun staff desire to perhaps do a follow-up and get beyond the tired partisan propaganda, I suggest seeking someone outside their usual closed circle. In fact, they can start with me — I have some interesting insight.
