To The Daily Sun,
Government for all is a simple concept; everyone, regardless of their circumstances, is represented by the legal system. From innocent babies to violent criminals, everyone deserves to be represented even if they are incapable of representing themselves. This is not Communism, Socialism, Marxism or whatever label one might use, this is representation for all, not just the current majority.
Humanity is consistently in a struggle for control over authority — do we embrace democracy which represents the will of the people or do we live subjugated by authoritarian principles which deprive individuals of basic human rights? Many turn to religion for answers only to be blind to generations of authoritarianism embedded into religious doctrine; i.e., women held as subservient to men, sexuality discrimination, violence deemed acceptable because it is against those considered different, et al.
Every nation, every group of people, must consistently confront the power struggle for authority. The United States, today's oldest democratic republic in existence, is undergoing a period of uncertainty — do we embrace democracy for all or government for a few? The choice is simple yet often misunderstood as there is a sliding scale of outcomes; become more democratic, stay the same, or backslide towards authoritarianism. The United States has been waffling since at least the 1970s making small advancements in some areas with serious backsliding in others like inequitable policy favoring the wealthy, environmental destruction, and reduction in civil rights which all threaten our shared existence.
Choose wisely, once democracy is weakened too much authoritarianism will overpower it. Humanity everywhere shares our struggle for self-determination, how will readers choose to respond? Hate or love, it is that simple.
