Danya Talbot: President Donald Trump’s actions burden all NH taxpayers

The federal workforce has already shed hundreds of thousands of staff on this administration’s watch, including 6,000 veterans.

Congress refuses to compromise on their cuts to Medicaid and the elimination of health Premium Tax Credits — programs that help millions of Americans with life-saving care. This shutdown follows Congress’s passage of Donald Trump’s “Big Ugly” bill, which implements $1 trillion in tax cuts for the top 1% while mandating a $1 trillion cut to Medicaid.

Recently, federal employees across seven agencies were laid off although 700 firings (CDC) were reversed. At least 55,000 federal workers have been fired, with more than 200,000 leaving the workforce due to the administration's actions. The President told reporters that “a lot” of government workers would be fired and he plans to go further; all because of tax breaks for the rich. Think about all the workers not getting paid during the shutdown and how it affects their families. All because we are fighting for health care for our citizens.

Now the question is who is paying for personal vendettas against James Comey, Letitia James, and John Bolton? We the taxpayers are.

The U.S. government is responsible for the costs incurred by the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute these cases. This includes grand jury proceedings, legal prep and staff, filing fees, court time, and other litigation costs. Once charges are filed formally, the government would incur any additional prosecution costs.

He is suing the DOJ for $230 million for personal damages.

The “Ballroom,” he is tearing down history. Who will pay for this? He is turning the White House into an ostentatious castle.

Shouldn’t we be focusing on the American people during this time? I would like to be polite but why in the world are we dealing with him?
