To The Daily Sun,
Anyone interested in American history owes it to themselves to see "The Great Awakening."
This movie tells the story of the relationship between Ben Franklin and Rev. George Whitefield, an unsung American hero who was banished from England. Rev. Whitefield crossed the Atlantic Ocean and dedicated his life to proclaiming the gift of God and democracy in the American colonies. He decried the tyranny of the English crown and proclaimed our God given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that led the way to the American Revolution.
I was absolutely flabbergasted that Rev. Whitefield's name never appeared in my history courses or any other history books I have read. Rev. George Whitefield deserves to be enshrined as a hero of American history. His story at the very least should be recounted at the Smithsonian Institute and referenced in our history books.
Believe it or not, Rev. George Whitefield showed Ben Franklin the way.
Take children and grandchildren to see "The Great Awakening." Thanks to Gilford Cinema for bringing "The Great Awakening" to Belknap County.
