To The Daily Sun,
There are times when the world feels dark and it’s hard to find the good. I’ve been there myself. But then someone meets people like Bruce Cheney, who has spent decades working to bring common sense and unity to our city, helping Laconia embody what this nation stands for even in difficult times.
I’ll admit, I once could not imagine voting for a lifelong Republican. But when Bruce first ran for city council, a friend encouraged me to take a closer look. That conversation opened my eyes to a different perspective, one I am deeply grateful for today.
Over the years, I’ve had the honor of getting to know Bruce personally. He reminds me so much of my late abuelo (grandpa): caring, honest, and, yes, sometimes stubborn. But just like my grandfather, Bruce’s stubbornness comes from love and commitment to his community. Even when we disagree politically, his honesty and care for Laconia shine through. That kind of leadership is rare and needed now more than ever.
At a time when wars rage abroad and political tensions rise here at home, we need leaders who can bring people together regardless of party. Bruce has shown that courage throughout our city’s history. He doesn’t claim to have all the answers, but he truly believes in us, and when a leader believes in the people, nothing can hold us back.
Laconia is a thriving, beautiful city. If we choose to focus on what unites us, we can overcome any challenge together. That’s why this November, I will be voting for Bruce Cheney, a vote for common sense, a vote for unity, and a vote for the city I believe in.
