Bruce Jenket: Telling a story that omits key facts is still lying

I have been asked many times why I write letters to the editor. At the top of the list is I don’t like being lied too. What is happening to this country is horrific. We have two opposing media groups reporting on the same events and coming up with completely opposite perspectives. How can that happen? It’s simple! Ignore all facts that don’t support your political “belief.”

In my last letter, “Hate for President Trump has developed into a religion.” I used the examples of the Russia collusion hoax and the General Flynn perjury case. In both cases the prosecution left out exculpatory evidence to make their case. That is “lying” by omission. I thought the Flynn case was over when the DOJ dropped the charges but it’s not. The judge that presided over the original trial doesn’t want it to end and is giving fodder to the left’s base to accuse AG Barr of political bias and the media is pushing for his resignation. On what basis? What law has he broken? Do they have facts or just being petulant children throwing a temper tantrum?

With regards to the Russia collusion hoax, it’s in the hands of U.S. Attorney John Durham. I’m expecting incitements of the key conspirators that initiated and prosecuted that political witch hunt. I have no doubt that it was a hoax but proving it was deliberate is not always as easy as it seems.

Getting back to the left’s omission of facts. I’ve been following the current debate between two LDS contributors on the efficacy of Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine for treating Covid-19. The left writer provided a very detailed summary of one test conducted by the VA and omitted any other data that is readily available on the internet. Here is an article for him to review. It’s by NIH in Bethesda, MD (https://bit.ly/3cgx6ES) where they reviewed nine trials (not one) and concluded it to be effective.

I did read several other articles both pro and con and what I came away with is that these drugs are effective in the early phases of infection but once victims are on a ventilator its efficacy is lost. I’m not going to get in the middle of their debate. My purpose for mentioning it is again to show how the left cherry picks what they want and ignore the rest. His “facts” were accurate but he deliberately left out any exculpatory evidence. Very similar to the Flynn trial and FISA warrants during the Mueller investigation above. Lying by omission is still lying. Everyone knows that when you swear under oath it’s to, “Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth”.

In closing, I was hoping my last letter would elicit a response and it did. I invite Robert Miller and Mark Weinreb to contact me so we can exchange source data. The LDS has my contact info and I look forward to some spirited discussions. Maybe even a joint letter?
