On behalf of the players and families of White Mountain Youth Hockey, I would like to congratulate President Steen and Plymouth State University on the opening of the new arena. It is a great facility. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day. I would also like to thank John Clark, Ken Knight and Scott Shedd for their support of White Mountain Youth Hockey. With their support youth hockey will continue to grow in central New Hampshire.
Let me take a moment to dispel some of the myths of youth hockey. Perhaps you or a family member played hockey growing up or maybe you have heard someone talk about their child’s activities in a youth hockey league. Can you spend thousands of dollars on equipment and registration fees? Absolutely, but you don’t need to. Can you spend your week-ends driving across New England going from one game to another? Sure, but you don’t have to. My personal favorite: How come practices are at 5 a.m.? We do not have early morning practices. Youth hockey develops teamwork, discipline, promotes self esteem and most importantly is fun. WMYH is a family friendly organization. We have many options to choose from.
Throughout the summer WMYH will host several “Come Play Youth Hockey” events at the new arena. These events are free and open to all skaters at all ability levels for boys and girls. If you don’t have skates or hockey gear we can provide these for you. After each event we have a cook-out for the skaters and their families at no cost to the participants. Please join us at one of these events. The next one is Sunday, July 25th from 4 – 6 pm. Visit us online at www.whitemthockey.org for additional information and dates.
Whether you have a child interested in learning to skate, or perhaps you want to see the new arena, or maybe you just want to get out of the heat, join us at one of these events. Try us out and see what the excitement is all about!
