To The Daily Sun,
President Obama was an adjunct professor of constitutional law at the Chicago Law School. With that background, I am constantly amazed at his low regard for the Constitution and for the duly enacted laws of this country.
Today, May 14, I watched as he called on "Christians and Catholics" to spend their efforts on things like poverty and telling them to get off trying to push their anti-abortion beliefs. At issue is a bill that passed the House of Representative that would place restrictions on aborting the unborn who are 20 or more weeks old
Starting with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the president has gone out of his way trying to restrict Christianity to the confines of their church buildings. That was evident when he stiff-armed Catholic bishops and made abortion provisions a requirement of those insurance plans. That was so outrageous that the religious order, the Little Sisters of the Poor for the Aged in Colorado, had to fight that provision all the way up to the Supreme Court. The owner of Hobby Lobby included 14 or 15 contraceptive methods in the insurance they provided to their employees, but they objected to the ACA demand for their insurance to provide an abortion pill. The owners of that company are deeply religious Christians and they couldn't, in good conscience, consent to providing a pill that would induce an abortion. They, too, had to go all the way to the Supreme Court to allow for their religious beliefs to be upheld.
Now the president is attempting to bully the religious into violating the tenets of their belief systems. In doing so, he's not only showing a total disregard for the First Amendment to the Constitution, he is showing a total lack of respect for Christianity.
