To the editor,

First, a big thank you to The Laconia Daily Sun and Ray Carbone for your update on the progress of Freedom Fund NH, and those two motorcyclist clubs who have adopted our cause and have taken it upon themselves to raise money for FFNH to disperse to the military families who need some help while a loved who has been called to active duty in Iraq or Afghanistan. Lord knows, we are receiving requests on a regular basis — one of them being Christmas, and gifts for the children.

We are working on it!

Second, the Letters Page Monday made for good reading with letters from Doris Morrissette, Mike Verhoeks, and Tom Tardif — all local folks using the pages of a local paper. I have voiced my displeasure with some of the letters from folks in San Antonio, Texas and Hampstead, and other communities that are remote from the readership of this paper.

Even letters from those I differ with provide more interesting and valuable information than those included from someone who live 50+ miles away.

Third, in my travels I have found only one person who defends the three city councilors who have signed onto a lawsuit against the city, and he was at the meeting and spoke — mostly about me — but at least we know where their support is.

The good news is that they are willing to keep giving me quotes to work from.

Here is one from Councilor Krahulec: “Whoever thought of it should be ashamed. It’s juvenile, a waste of the council’s time.”

Actually, I think the public should have more opportunities such as were providedduring the 10/12 council meeting to address what might be “bothering” us, the people who pay the bills, and get a reaction from our elected officials.

BTW, Councilor Krahulec, how many times have I asked you during my radio program, and the council as a body, when you folks will hold meetings to discuss where consolidation and/or privatization could happen? And we are wasting your time?

All I wanted the three councilors to do was explain to me their objective in becoming part of the suit. The suit was already filed so I and the people of Laconia are baffled as to why they joined in.

And, as for the termination of Doug Sargent, the former Public Works Director, being the catalyst for some comments by the three — I think it is a smoke screen — a reason to rally around if you will.
