To The Daily Sun,

Here is a response to Todd Welch's letter of Aug.18. I was driving South on I-93 and entered the Hooksett Tolls. When I went to hand the toll collector my $1, he told me that the car in front had paid my toll. I was a little surprised. I say little because this has happened to my wife and I four of five times in the past few years.

This is the unusual part. I have driven from Maine to Texas, up and down the East Coast, as well as thru Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and even tiny Luxembourg and never, ever had this happen before, anywhere else.

The next thing you are probable wondering, what did you do next, cheapo? Well, of course at the next toll, when there was actually someone behind me, I paid it forward and paid his toll as well. The last time I did this it was for a Massachusetts driver, who raced up and gave me a big grin and a thumbs up.

New Hampshire truly is a great place to live and little kindnesses like these show me it is a civilized place as well.
