To the editor,

On behalf of the Lakes Region United Way, we would like to thank our many volunteers for another successful season of selling 50/50 raffle tickets at the Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion. Because of your hard work and commitment, we raised $10,000 over the summer for our community, and we were able to award the same amount to winning ticket holders.

Those caring folks who gave up one, some or (as was usually the case) many nights of their own free time to benefit the community are: Kathy Calvin, Lisa Fowler, Sharon Furmanick, Grace Grady, Jerry Grady, Leanne Hamilton, Tom Hanley, Pat Kratzer, Kassie Malm, Chris Maroun, Conor McGuire, Gina McGuire, Patrick McGuire, Sean McGuire, Darlene Miller, Marie Mills, Michelle Morrissey, Lisa Pomerleau, Dana Roy, Lynda Roy, Niki Ryder, Judy Scothorne, Donna Sickinger, Kristine Sweeney and Joan Tamke. Leading each team of volunteers and assuming the responsibility for making sure all went smoothly were our volunteer team Captains: Natalie Allen, Bill Dearborn, Mark Emery, Linda Hanley, John Malm, Phyllis Mecheski, Don Morrissey, Kate Ransom, and Sean Sullivan in addition to LRUW staff members Jack Terrill and myself.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jeff Defrancesco and The Citizen newspaper for their generosity in purchasing a tent twice the size they needed in order to donate half of the space for us to use as a base of operations. Talk about feeling welcome! This is the second year that The Citizen has shared their space with us, and it is very much appreciated.

We would also like to thank the management and staff of Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion for opening their gates to the Lakes Region United Way and allowing us to run the raffle again for this and for all of the last five seasons, and congratulate them on their latest record-breaking season.

Finally, we would like to thank all concert goers who purchased Lakes Region United Way 50/50 raffle tickets over the last five years, and congratulate all of the lucky winners. Thank you all for your support.

Kevin Conway, operations manager
