I offer my write-in candidacy as alternative to these tax & spenders

To The Daily Sun,

Attention resident taxpayers of Bristol. My name is Eric T. Rottenecker, I'm offering my service as a write-in candidate for selectman. If elected I will offer an alternative to the tax-and-spend candidates Mr. Rick Alpers and Mr. Don Milbrand.

The taxes in the town of Bristol are like a runaway train. We sit and watch the taxes go up a quarter of a million dollars a year. This has got to stop.

This is my agenda:

First, I will put a freeze on hiring, which will result in cutting our Police Department down by half within the end of the calendar year. In turn we will not need the creation of a $2.5 million regional police department and all the frills that go with it.

Second, no more overtime pay for town employees under salaried pay scale. If you are hired by the town, the pay and benefit package is a signed contract not to be renegotiable in the middle of the contract year. Any department head walking into a Selectboard meeting issuing terms of additional pay raises will be considered a breach of contract and be grounds for dismissal.

Third, I will seek to open discussion with private ambulance companies to take over the equipment, personnel and responsibility of the Bristol Ambulance Service, which should save the taxpayers about $600,000 a year.

Last but not least, no more pet projects until we pay down the mounting bonds and debt that has brought the town up to a staggering $7 million budget. This is a town of 3,000 residents with 1,900 tax bills picking up the tab. Enough is enough.

You do have an alternative on March 14. Do want to see your taxes go down or do you want to see another spending spree and more taxes for the next number of years?
