To the editor:
The board of directors and members of Gilford's Thompson-Ames Historical Society wish to extend our sincere thanks to veterinarian Dr. Robert MacDonald and his wife Susan for a very successful cat and dog rabies' clinic recently held at the Rowe House in Gilford Village. This is the first time the historical society has sponsored an event of this type, a departure from our usual historically-focused programs.
Dr. MacDonald was visited by about 50 animals of all breeds, sizes and colors from as far away as Tuftonboro and Gilmanton Iron Works. Everything was very well organized by the MacDonald's and thanks to some great weather, fine volunteers and Dr. MacDonald's easy way with the animals, everything went smoothly and without incident. The dogs appeared not to even know they were receiving a shot and the occasional cat who let it be known that they were there under duress, did so with good grace.
Thank you, Dr. and Mrs. MacDonald for what we heard described as a "fun" day and for your generous donation to T-AHS. Thanks to all who brought your pets to the Clinic. They were very well-behaved! We look forward to having you with us again next spring for a repeat performance.
