Dave Nickerson

To the editor:

My name is Dave Nickerson and I am running for selectman in the town of Sanbornton.

I was raised in Pennacook and joined the US Army in 1964. After discharge in 1967 I lived in Tilton where I was a firefighter/EMT on the Tilton/Northfield fire department. I then moved to Northfield where I served on the zoning board. In 1978 I moved to Boscawen and became involved with the Pennacook/Boscawen Little League where I coached and umpired.

I was elected to the Merrimack Valley School Board and served there for fifteen years; at times chairman of the transportation committee, chairman of the building needs committee, chairman of the budget committee and then chairman of the school board for four years.

In 1997 I moved to Sanbornton and have recently served on the budget committee for three years.

I bring to the table forty years of experience with Verizon, eleven of those years as a contract work inspector dealing with contractors, town governments, and the state of New Hampshire relative to permits, and building and site work regulations.

I am keenly interested in helping the town of Sanbornton sort out the issues of road conditions, growth, and fair taxes. Also there have been recent issues with fire department coverage, the Tower Hill cemetery, and the need for updated town office buildings and the highway garage.

If elected Selectman I will be very open and will listen to all concerns for the good of our entire community. I would like to see the Selectman’s office work more closely with all department heads and town committees, especially with the budget committee. After all, the folk who donate their time and energies are doing so for all of us.

If elected Selectman you will find me to be approachable and honest.
