NH gas prices have risen by a third over the past year

Gasoline prices in New Hampshire rose a full 7.1 cents per gallon in the past week as summer ended and are more than $1 a gallon higher than they were a year ago, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 875 stations in the state.

We’re not alone: Average gasoline prices rose in the majority of states over the last week while diesel surged in every state, sometimes as much as 50 cents per gallon, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “The milestone many hoped to avoid has arrived: the national average price of gasoline on Labor Day set a new all-time record for the holiday.”

The state average on Labor Day was $4.15 a gallon, with individual stations ranging from $3.84 to $4.49, the group said. The average one year previously was $3.08 and it has never risen above $3.75 around Labor Day.

The wars in Iran and Ukraine have hindered supplies of oil and other petroleum products as well as harmed some refining capacity. Officials see no hope of prices coming back down any time soon.
