Marc Tremblay, who won a special election to represent Berlin in the New Hampshire House of Representatives last month, was sworn into office at Wednesday’s Executive Council meeting.
Tremblay defeated Democrat Corinne Cascadden in a race so close it led to a recount. After the recount, the results stood at 878-873, according to the Secretary of State’s Office. The House Democratic Caucus appealed the results of that recount to the Ballot Law Commission, but ultimately the recount stood.
Tremblay replaces fellow Republican Brian Valerino, who resigned from the seat to become warden of the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin. On the campaign trail, Tremblay, who had a long career in law enforcement, made public safety a focus, promising to further stiffen bail laws and support local police departments.
