The Lakes Region lost two young people in separate traffic accidents over the weekend.
A 17-year-old male from Tuftonboro died in Wolfeboro on Sunday, when the Ford F-350 he was driving left the roadway and collided with a tree. According to a release from Wolfeboro police, the driver was on North Main Street, headed toward Tuftonboro, when the truck went off the road in the area of 645 N. Main. No other vehicles were involved, and the release notes a “high rate of speed” prior to the crash.
The driver was trapped inside the truck when emergency responders arrived, and extrication tools were required to get to him. The driver was transported to Huggins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim of the crash was due to enter his senior year at Kingswood Regional High School, according to Wolfeboro police. The victim was not named by police.

In Dorchester on Saturday evening, Madeline Tredo, a 23-year-old woman from Meredith, died in a head-on collision on Route 118.
A press release from NH State Police reported Tredo was traveling eastbound on the highway around 5 p.m. on Aug. 24, when she apparently crossed the center line when rounding a turn, and rode into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

These crashes occurred during a weekend when there were multiple other traffic fatalities in the state. Fatal accidents also took place in Albany and Greenville on Aug. 24, and in Londonderry on Aug. 23.
