FRANKLIN — Brandon Janak, a suspect involved in a motorcycle crash during a police pursuit June 23, died this week at Concord Hospital, according to a spokesperson for the hospital.
Janak and passenger Coreen Gagne, both wanted on active warrants from other law enforcement agencies, fled from officers “at a high rate of speed” during a late-night traffic stop, according to Franklin police. The motorcycle crashed in the area of Laconia Road and Church Street.
Police Chief David Goldstein confirmed Janak was initially transported to Concord Hospital-Laconia. “That’s where the sheriff’s department took over security,” Goldstein said. “Grafton [Sheriff’s Department] went to provide security because he was wanted on a parole warrant.”
Franklin police said they found a “large quantity” of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl at the time of the crash. Goldstein also confirmed that over $3,500 in cash was recovered.
“The amount we’re looking at in this case would indicate this was a fairly decent operation,” Goldstein said.
Gagne was booked at the Belknap County Jail. As of Tuesday, Gagne was not listed as an inmate.
Charges against Gagne include bench warrants as well as resisting arrest and simple assault.
