SANBORNTON — Sanbornton police have identified Roger E. Young Jr., 52, of Alexandria, as the motorcyclist who died following a Stage Road accident on Saturday. The crash is still under investigation.

According to a police report, at 3:08 p.m. on Oct. 11, Sanbornton Police and Fire responded to the area of 168 Stage Road, also known as Route 132. Police Chief Stephen Hankard said the accident took place just north of the intersection with New Hampton Road, which is an area where the road winds back and forth.

The report stated Young was coming around a turn when his motorcycle left the road and hit a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, but Hankard said a good Samaritan pulled over to offer rescue breathing until first responders arrived. Investigating officers spoke with the good Samaritan, and Hankard said they are going through information to “button things up."

“I don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved at this point,” Hankard said.

Hankard could not yet say if speed was a factor, and said that question is part of the investigation. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit was not called to the scene, and the investigation is being handled by town police.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Sanbornton Police Department at 603-286-4323.
