LACONIA — A paving project early next week on South Main Street may disrupt the flow of traffic.

The 2-inch milling and paving project, set to begin on Tuesday, May 6, and continue through Wednesday, May 7, will resurface a portion of South Main Street between Sunflower Natural Foods and 20 feet south of Cottage Street.

Southerly traffic will be detoured from Union Avenue to Academy Street and exiting on Champlin Street.

On Monday, May 5, Laconia Department of Public Works staff will post "no parking" signs on both sides of South Main Street.

Milling refers to a process which removes sections of an existing pavement surface.

Tuesday will be milling and Wednesday will be paving, Assistant Public Works Director Nate Guerette said Thursday.
