Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) visited the historic Gale School, in Belmont, Tuesday evening, to celebrate its recent reopening. Shaheen met with community leaders from the Save Our Gale School Committee, some of whom attended the school decades ago, Lakes Region Community Developers staff who led renovations, and staff from the Boys & Girls Club Sara M. Allen Early Learning Center, now on the first floor of the Gale School. In 2022, Shaheen secured over $390,000 in congressionally-directed spending for renovating the Gale School, which increases access to affordable childcare in the Lakes Region. Shaheen said in a small community like Belmont, residents grow up with these landmarks, and it was exciting to see the community involvement and preservation of such a beloved place.
