PLYMOUTH — A Plymouth resident was hospitalized Sunday, with a serious leg injury after allegedly being hit by a car following a reported disagreement, and while nobody has been charged in the incident, police are investigating.

Police went to Green Street at 6:30 p.m. on April 12, for a report of an altercation between two adult males aged 24 and 25, of Plymouth and Campton, respectively.

Chief Nate Buffington said upon arrival officers witnessed what appeared to be a dispute, and police are investigating if it was physical or verbal only. At some point, the Campton man allegedly got into his car and hit the other person. It is unclear if it was on purpose.

Buffington said the two men knew each other, and he did not believe they were Plymouth State University students. He said there is no known threat to the public.

Buffington said it did not appear alcohol nor drugs were involved, but that is part of the investigation. There were “at least four” witnesses as the scene, and police are canvassing the area for any video footage they can review.

This was in the area of the Plymouth District Court and the boat launch on the Pemigewasset River, and while there are no residences around, there are several businesses.

Buffington said the man was taken to Speare Memorial Hospital by ambulance, but did not know his status as of Wednesday.

The investigation could results in charges like negligent driving or first degree assault, but Buffington said it was too early to comment on what he expects to file, if any.

As of Wednesday, Buffington said none had been filed.
