MANCHESTER — The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications has opened nominations for its annual First Amendment Award Event, which honors individuals or groups who stand out for their defense or use of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Each year, judges review the First Amendment nominees submitted by the public to choose the recipient. This year’s judges are Harrison Thorp, editor at The Rochester Voice and 2024 winner of the First Amendment Award; retired New Hampshire Supreme Court Justice Richard Galway; attorney Gregory Sullivan of Malloy & Sullivan, LPC, who is a Loeb School Board of Trustees member; and NHPR senior reporter Annmarie Timmins.
The First Amendment Honors recipient will receive a replica of a Loeb Eagle, designed by Nackey S. Loeb, who was a painter and a sculptor in addition to being a champion of First Amendment rights.
The deadline for nominations is Monday, Aug. 4. To make a nomination, visit loebschool.org/our-first-amendment-honor. For questions, or to share additional information about nominees, email loebschool@loebschool.org with the subject line "2025 First Amendment Award Nominee" and their name.
