Jason Shedenhelm, a fugitive this summer from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, has been captured, according to a DOC press release sent Tuesday.

Shedenhelm, 46, was apprehended by California Highway Patrol in San Diego on Nov. 21, and transferred to the custody of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. On Nov. 25, Shedenhelm was transferred to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on a California warrant for a child sex offense.

He’s held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles pending legal proceedings on that charge. DOC staff are working to secure Shedenhelm's return to the Granite State.

In July, state DOC leaders said they were searching for Shedenhelm, a fugitive with violent tendencies wanted for a probation violation and known to wander the New Hampshire Seacoast region.

Shedenhelm was last known to reside in Rochester.

His probation violation was related to a conviction for methamphetamine possession, and he hadn’t reported for probation since May 2023. A warrant for his capture was issued in August 2023.

He’s been previously convicted for arranging to meet with a minor, assault, resisting arrest, reckless conduct and domestic violence, criminal threatening, stalking, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, drug possession and failure to pay bail.
