Councilor Tony Felch of Ward 6 cut the ribbon during the grand opening of the Weirs Docks on Friday afternoon. A brief press conference followed the ribbon cutting, where Mayor Andrew Hosmer gave a few remarks. The project was five years in the making. Delays following the COVID-19 pandemic meant the project began construction in January of this year. The docks were reconstructed to accommodate larger boats. "This is not just a beautiful dock system welcoming people to the Weirs Beach area," Hosmer said. "It's a sign of resilience, it's a sign of patience, it's a sign of the great work that's going on throughout the City of Laconia."
