PLYMOUTH — When Victoria Kelly was younger, she loved doing her own nails, and her mom’s nails, for fun. Now, at 19, she is the owner of a salon and esthetics studio.

Kelly opened Nails Via Victoria downtown, on June 4, a few minutes from the Plymouth State University campus.

“It's amazing. I don't even know how to put it in words,” Kelly said. “I get to make everything my own. I can make my own schedule. I can paint the walls whatever color I want. It's really exciting.”

Kelly, a Winnisquam Regional High School 2024 graduate, received her esthetician license in August 2025, after attending Empire Beauty School in Laconia. Kelly completed the school’s 600-hour, full-time program, where students receive their license in less than five months. With her esthetician license, Kelly is able to provide services such as manicures, pedicures, lash tints, facials, waxes, and beautifying brows.

After receiving her license, Kelly worked at Cascade Spa at The Lake in Meredith, and still works as she transitions into running her business full-time. While working in Meredith, she heard from a friend there was a space opening in Plymouth, ready for a business to move in.

“I've always wanted to be my own boss, and to run my own business,” Kelly said. “I figured I would do it eventually, but, you know, the opportunity came sooner than I thought. I just figured, 'why not?'”

With the help of her boyfriend and family, Kelly obtained the space and prepared it for her own small business.

“My family’s been very supportive,” Kelly said. “My boyfriend has helped me paint and hang stuff up. I had a ribbon-cutting ceremony for my opening last month, and everyone came and got to see the final reveal. We celebrated, and it was really fun.”

Kelly’s goal in the first few months of her business being open is to spread the word and encourage people in the community to book an appointment.

“My current goal is to just fill my books as much as I can, and [to have] consistent clients,” Kelly said. “In the future, it would be cool to expand, and hire employees.”

Kelly hopes her close proximity to the PSU campus will bring in more clients when students return for the year.

“I'm hoping in the fall once students [come back], it'll be good, cause my store is in walking distance to school,” Kelly said. “The location is very convenient.”

Along with running her own salon, Kelly is also currently going to school to become a licensed nail technician. This will allow her to provide nail enchantment services, such as acrylic and gel dip manicures.

“Nails are definitely my focus point,” Kelly said. “I love to do nail art. I love to be creative. I can do any design someone brings in.”
