FRANKLIN — A head-on crash with a sport utility vehicle killed a Massachusetts man operating a motorcycle on Route 3-A, near Lake Shore Drive, Sunday morning, shutting down the road for about six hours while police conducted their investigation.

Police said a third vehicle also was involved in the crash, which took place around 10:13 a.m.

The 37-year-old motorcycle operator was taken to Franklin Regional Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police withheld his identity, pending notification of his family, and said the driver of one of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Police did not return multiple calls seeking further information on Monday.
